Sustainability: Integrating Renewable Energy for Systemic Change

About NET Positive

Many businesses are taking steps to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions and manage energy costs, and they’re increasingly investing in renewable energy. The greatest value, however, can be achieved by integrating and connecting systems to drive systemic change. Building owners can deliver new value for their business and for tenants by enabling insights and control over the performance and impact of building equipment. Full visibility into multiple systems helps us fully understand building environments. When we connect the building environments that make up communities, we can better manage entire ecosystems. And with smart technologies, we can optimize the infrastructure that connects them, conserving valuable resources and saving money.

How do we do it?

Assess

Identify right technology, sensorization road map, install, connect and Collect data at the edge to assess your building’s environmental footprint, establish a baseline, and create sustainability targets

Access

Access the data to perform analytics to drive data to determine Energy consumption, Building health, Occupant comfort, Traffic inside the building, Determine the Hot path and cold path cases and derive alarms for critical events.

Transform

Optimize systems with system integration, control through Apps/automation, or even autonomous controls – and identify additional opportunities to reimagine building operations

Joules Tech Sustainability Offerings

Zero energy buildings are about balance. Zero energy buildings are designed to balance low energy consumption with on-site renewable energy production to meet their entire energy loads over 12 months. Zero energy buildings are usually connected to the utility grid to provide energy whenever renewable energy production is insufficient to meet required loads and to return energy to the grid when renewable energy production exceeds the loads.

We are aligned to Advanced Energy Design Guide from the office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy for K-12 School Buildings, Small to medium office buildings, medium to Big box Retail buildings, Large Hospitals, Grocery stores on how to achieve a zero energy facility. As a true instance, the qualities of a zero energy school, and the process required to create it, can encourage student learning and student success, create healthy, high-performance learning environments, provide sound fiscal management of community resources, and demonstrate environmental leadership in minimizing the impact of the built environment.

Drive sustainability in smart buildings

Carbon

According to the World Green Building Council, every building on the planet must achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 to keep global warming below 1.5 degree Celsius, but less than 1 percent of buildings meet this standard today. Joules Technologies can help get us there.

Understand and optimize energy use and carbon impact – Using Smart technology, Joules Tech can connect, monitor and aggregate data intelligence from legacy systems, enabling critical visibility into Realtime energy use and trends through a single, unified platform.

Add AI-driven insights into inefficiencies and how to address them, and you’ll be armed with the intelligence you need to curb energy use and reduce carbon emissions.

Smart solutions can even streamline management of operations responsively to maximize efficiencies, such as controlling lighting, ventilation, or security dynamically according to actual needs versus predetermined settings.

A real time Carbon consumption monitoring tool can be devised to see Carbon consumption per building/per floor/per area and enable the experience with the tenants using the building for creating awareness

Use predictive monitoring to help manage equipment performance. Joules Tech has the experience to set-up a “Global Operations command center” to monitor the performance of every system in the building. By developing the cold paths and Hot path analytics, we can help reduce unplanned maintenance and equipment downtime, and reduce costs.

Explore grid-interactive efficient buildings and infrastructure to maximize energy efficiencies and help decarbonize the power sector, reducing indirect building sector emissions.
 – For this, Joules Tech is prepared with various Renewable Energy sources that can generate the power inside and outside of building environment, store the energy and consume when there is peak demand in the building. This will support our Net Zero Goals. We have experience working with Solar energy, Compact wind turbines, Special Walking tiles that generate energy and many more simpler technologies that generate power.
 – If the state law permits, we can also deliver the energy back to grid and achieve Net positive status for the building.

Water

Traditional water consumption tracking relies on water operators manually reading water consumption meters at the meter sites. More buildings, cities are replacing traditional meters with advanced smart meters enabling remote monitoring of consumption and remote control of valves that control water flow. Water consumption monitoring coupled with digital feedback messages to users can increase awareness and reduce water consumption.

Joules Tech will pick the right IoT solutions, sensory devise, Network connectivity requirements and develop the water consumption monitoring application that helps to enable water utilities to remotely monitor and control water flow.

Water management solutions use smart water devices such as flow meters, water quality monitors, smart valves, leak detectors.

Devices in smart water solutions may connect through low-power wide area networks (LPWAN) or through a third-party network operator.

Waste

Joules Tech understands the concept of waste management solutions and how to reduce or eliminate or re-use the waste as part of sustainable buildings. The connected waste management application helps you to remotely monitor to maximize efficient waste collection as part of a smart building/smart city.

Devices such as waste bins that are used in open environments may connect through low-power wide area networks or through a third-party network operator.

WA Clean Building Performance Standard Services Offerings

Buildings in WA state need to meet minimum ASHRAE standard 100 & amendments WAC 194-50. (it talks about Benchmarking, calculating the weather normalized energy use intensity of a building, EUI and EUIt else Non-complaint of building will be raised as issue).

Our role is to make all our clients building compliance to above standards.

HVAC is a term standing for Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning. HVAC Equipment includes various types of systems, machines, and technologies that are used to control environmental conditions in buildings, offices, transportation vehicles, and other places where the need to manage the temperature and humidity of the air is crucial.

The most important HVAC system components are the air filter, the condensing unit, the duct, the evaporator coil, the furnace, the heat exchanger, the refrigerant line, the thermostat and the vents.
